Organisation: The Safe Project
About: The Safe Project in a young person’s exploitation team within
Leeds City Council, we work alongside Children’s Social work services
to reduce exploitation and safeguard young people.
The young person must be open to social care to be referred to Safe
for support, a Child exploitation risk assessment must be completed
we prioritise medium to high risk, criminal and sexual exploitation.
We cover the Leeds area only.
We do 1:1 individual work with young people and 1:1 safety net work
with parents.
As a team we run a safe carers group to support parents and carers
of the young people we work with, we also run a siblings group to
support younger siblings as an early intervention.
As a team we chair Mace meetings, attend dialy Project shield
meetings and attend serious youth violence meetings working closely
with key partners as a multi agency approach, which enables us to
work more effectively.
Some of the themes we are currently working on are girls in gangs,
financial exploitation, sexual extortion and AP parties
As a team we always work through a trauma informed lense and
building relationships with our young people and parents is our
starting point to enable us to better support them.
