Do you want to make a difference in your community? Recruitment has opened for new Independent Custody Visitors who volunteer to make unannounced visits to police custody suites to check on the dignity, rights and welfare of detainees. Operated locally by the Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, you would be completely independent of the police service and play a vital role in ensuring transparency with West Yorkshire Police. 

What You’ll Do:
Visit custody suites across West Yorkshire
Check on the rights, health, and wellbeing of detainees
Report findings to help improve custody standards

Who We’re Looking For:
People aged 18+From all walks of life and backgrounds
Committed to impartiality and confidentiality
Full training is provided.
