“Dig Deep for the Branch” – Huddersfield Charity Launches Urgent Appeal to Save Vital Community Services
Huddersfield, West Yorkshire — The Branch, a much-loved community organisation based at the Jubilee Centre in Paddock, has launched an urgent new campaign titled “Dig Deep for the Branch” in a bid to secure its future and continue supporting thousands of local people.
Run by 149 volunteers and staff, The Branch is a grassroots charity that exists by the community, for the community. But following its April budget review, the organisation confirmed it does not have enough funding to survive the financial year.
“We’re starting this year without the money to finish it,” said Alison Lloyd, Branch Manager. “We rely entirely on grants and donations, and now we’re asking the people of Huddersfield to help us stay open.”

The campaign encourages supporters to set up monthly donations, which provide the stable, predictable income needed to keep services running. Even the cost of a takeaway coffee each month can make a huge difference.
In 2024 alone, The Branch:
- Distributed food equivalent to 50,000 meals
- Delivered 230 social actions (including energy top-ups, clothing, and furniture support)
- Welcomed over 16,000 visits for groups and activities
- Benefited from over 7,000 volunteer hours
- Hosted 16 community groups supporting people of all ages and backgrounds
Each number represents a life changed — but without urgent support, these services are at risk.

The Branch is proud to be recognised as a local anchor and community champion centre, rooted in the belief that transformation happens through love and belonging. Our work began 26 years ago with a parenting class called Melody Makers, and has since grown into a vibrant hub of connection, care, and change.
