The Branch at Jubilee Centre Launches Fundraising Campaign

“Dig Deep for the Branch” – Huddersfield Charity Launches Urgent Appeal to Save Vital Community Services

Huddersfield, West Yorkshire — The Branch, a much-loved community organisation based at the Jubilee Centre in Paddock, has launched an urgent new campaign titled “Dig Deep for the Branch” in a bid to secure its future and continue supporting thousands of local people.

Run by 149 volunteers and staff, The Branch is a grassroots charity that exists by the community, for the community. But following its April budget review, the organisation confirmed it does not have enough funding to survive the financial year.

“We’re starting this year without the money to finish it,” said Alison Lloyd, Branch Manager. “We rely entirely on grants and donations, and now we’re asking the people of Huddersfield to help us stay open.”

Support Local. Give Monthly. Change Lives.

The campaign encourages supporters to set up monthly donations, which provide the stable, predictable income needed to keep services running. Even the cost of a takeaway coffee each month can make a huge difference.

In 2024 alone, The Branch:

  • Distributed food equivalent to 50,000 meals
  • Delivered 230 social actions (including energy top-ups, clothing, and furniture support)
  • Welcomed over 16,000 visits for groups and activities
  • Benefited from over 7,000 volunteer hours
  • Hosted 16 community groups supporting people of all ages and backgrounds

Each number represents a life changed — but without urgent support, these services are at risk.

More Than a Charity — A Community Anchor

The Branch is proud to be recognised as a local anchor and community champion centre, rooted in the belief that transformation happens through love and belonging. Our work began 26 years ago with a parenting class called Melody Makers, and has since grown into a vibrant hub of connection, care, and change.

We partner in delivering health and wellbeing sessions including:

  • Yoga and Tai Chi
  • Stop smoking support
  • Mindfulness and wellbeing classes
  • Health messaging and awareness campaigns

Our vision is simple yet powerful:
“Transformation through love and belonging.”

 Our Core Values

  • We are a place to belong
  • We are a faithful presence
  • We enable transformation
  • We care for the whole person
  • We encourage expression
  • We create opportunities and networks

 Our Mission in Action

Our aims are to:

  • Reduce isolation and loneliness by creating welcoming spaces for connection
  • Prevent personal crisis through holistic care and practical support
  • Restore lives after trauma with mentoring, hope, and volunteer-led journeys
  • Build networks and partnerships that unite diverse communities in trust and mutual support

 A Campaign Rooted in Community

The “Dig Deep for the Branch” campaign invites people to get involved in a fun and visible way:

  • Post a video or photo on social media digging in your garden or sitting in a greenhouse saying, “I’m digging deep for the Branch”
  • Tag the campaign video: Watch here
  • Share with friends and family
  • Donate via: https://www.thebranch.uk/donate2/

Displays and donation pots will also be set up at the Jubilee Centre, with volunteers on hand to engage the public. A leaflet on how to fundraise will be available to help supporters organise their own events.

 Real Stories, Real Impact

To highlight the importance of its work, The Branch will share four powerful stories from:

  • A local community group
  • A vital provision service
  • A learning programme
  • A health and wellbeing initiative

These stories will show the human side of the statistics — the lives transformed by the charity’s work.

 Be Part of Something Powerful

Whether you’ve attended a class, joined a group, or simply believe in the power of community, now is the time to act.
