Bio: Maysoon Shafiq is the first female Muslim Chaplaincy Team Lead
in NHS England and has been recognised in British history for this
landmark appointment. She has founded Al Mu’Minun (The Believers)
which provides spiritual, pastoral and religious support to all those in
need. She has won a plethora of awards for breaking down cultural
barriers. She uses her time to eradicate myths pertaining to Islam
and clear misconceptions pertaining to the religion. She is also an
author, a motivational speaker and is currently completing her PhD in
palliative care to increase the the uptake of palliative care in Muslims
and to ensure care provided at the end of life is culturally competent.
